Privacy Policy
The same Privacy Policy is also published for Google Play Store disclosure at https://abhilash-1998.github.io/StageLink/privacy-policy/.
This Privacy Policy explains how the gigZee mobile application (“gigZee”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our app and related backend services. It is written to reflect how the current gigZee product works.
This document is provided for transparency and Google Play disclosure purposes. It is not legal advice. If you need formal legal review for your jurisdiction, please consult a qualified professional.
1. Introduction
gigZee is a music networking and marketplace app that helps musicians, organizers, and related professionals create profiles, share posts, message others, discover gigs, bands, studios, lessons, and equipment listings, and receive notifications about activity on the platform.
By creating an account or using gigZee, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account registration: full name, email address, and password (stored as a hashed password, not in plain text).
- Profile information: optional details such as bio, tagline, username, city, state, country, genres, instruments, languages, professions, skills, interests, years of experience, pricing preferences, travel preferences, date of birth, gender, phone number, social / portfolio links, avatar and cover images, and visibility or privacy settings (for example, hide phone number or pricing).
- Organizer profile: organization name, city, bio, and avatar where provided.
- User-generated content: posts (text and images), comments, likes, reviews, follows, gig / hiring posts, applications, band listings, studio listings, lesson listings, and equipment marketplace / rental listings (including images and optional map links).
- Portfolio links: external HTTPS links you add (for example Google Drive, YouTube, or Dropbox URLs).
- Direct messages: message text you send to other users, along with sender/recipient identifiers and timestamps.
- Support communications: information you include when emailing support.
2.2 Automatically collected information
- Authentication tokens: access and refresh tokens used to keep you signed in.
- Device / push information: Expo push notification tokens, and related device metadata such as platform and an optional device name when push registration is enabled.
- App analytics events: product events such as signup, login, logout, app opened, profile views, searches/filters, content interactions (for example post created/liked, comment created, follow/unfollow, message sent), and similar usage events. Some analytics requests may include your IP address as received by our servers.
- Permission status on device: whether notification, camera, photo library, microphone, or location permissions have been granted (used on-device to operate those features).
2.3 Location
The app may request device location permission to help with discovery features. In the current product, location used for listings and discovery is modeled as a city value (currently Hyderabad for the launch market), not as continuous GPS tracking uploaded to our servers. Studio listings may include a maps URL that you choose to provide.
2.4 Images and media
When you choose photos or media for profiles, posts, or listings, the app may process and upload that media to our backend so it can be displayed in the product. Portfolio items are stored as external links rather than uploaded media files.
2.5 Information we do not sell
gigZee does not sell your personal information.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Create and manage your account and authentication session
- Display profiles, posts, listings, and social interactions
- Enable messaging, follows, likes, comments, and hiring / collaboration flows
- Send push and in-app notifications you are eligible to receive
- Operate search, discovery, and marketplace features
- Provide optional AI-assisted features (for example bio or pricing suggestions) when enabled, using relevant profile fields you have provided
- Improve reliability, diagnose issues, and understand product usage through analytics
- Enforce terms, prevent abuse, and protect the service and its users
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate gigZee:
- Other users: profile details and content you make available according to your privacy / visibility settings (for example public posts, public profile fields, listings).
- Service providers / infrastructure: trusted processors that host or deliver the service (see Third-Party Services).
- Legal / safety: if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and integrity of users or the service.
- Business transfers: if gigZee is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy’s principles.
We do not sell personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
5. Third-Party Services
Depending on platform and configuration, gigZee currently relies on:
- Railway — hosts the gigZee API.
- PostgreSQL — stores application data.
- Expo — application runtime, build/update services, and Expo Push Notifications delivery.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) — used as part of native Android/iOS push notification delivery for Expo notifications (not used in-app as a separate analytics product).
- Unsplash — default placeholder cover images for some listing types when no user photo is provided.
- AI provider (when configured) — may process profile-related inputs you provide to generate suggestions such as bios or pricing guidance.
These providers process data on our behalf to operate the product. Their own terms and privacy practices may also apply to their processing.
6. Data Storage and Security
Application data is stored in our backend database (PostgreSQL) operated through our hosting provider. Passwords are stored using one-way hashing. Authentication tokens are stored on your device using secure storage on native platforms (and browser local storage if you use a web build).
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain account, profile, content, messaging, and related operational data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we delete associated personal account data as described below. Limited operational records (for example certain analytics events) may remain for a period for security, debugging, or aggregate product metrics unless and until they are separately deleted or anonymized.
8. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your gigZee account from inside the app:
- Open gigZee and sign in
- Go to Profile → Settings → Delete account
- Confirm deletion
Account deletion permanently removes your user account and associated data that the product currently cascades on deletion, including (as implemented today) your profile records, posts, comments/likes you created, owned listings (gigs, bands, equipment, studios, lessons), applications, follows, reviews, messages, notification records/preferences, and push device tokens.
Detailed instructions are also published at https://gigzee.in/account-deletion/.
If you cannot access the app, email support@gigze.app from your registered email address with the subject “Account deletion request”.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- Access / update: you can view and edit much of your profile information in the app.
- Privacy controls: you can hide contact details such as phone number and adjust other profile privacy settings where available.
- Notifications: you can disable push notifications in device settings and/or app notification preferences where available.
- Permissions: you can revoke camera, photos, microphone, location, or notification permissions in your device settings. Some features may stop working without those permissions.
- Deletion: you may delete your account as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. Contact us to make a request and we will respond as required and as reasonably practicable.
10. Children’s Privacy
gigZee is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
11. International Data Transfers
Our infrastructure providers may process data in data centers outside your country of residence (for example, through cloud hosting and push-notification delivery networks). By using gigZee, you understand that your information may be processed in such locations as needed to operate the service.
12. Local Device Storage
gigZee stores authentication tokens and limited preferences on your device (SecureStore / platform storage on mobile; local storage on web builds). Signing out clears authentication tokens from the device.
The public gigzee.in website pages themselves are static informational pages and do not require login cookies.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at this URL and revise the effective date. Continued use of gigZee after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
